Aftercare Instructions

Please reach us at dale@krakkenbeauty.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • Once in the morning and once at night, GENTLY cleanse the procedure area with distilled water
  • Allow to dry completely
  • With clean hands, apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare ointment

  • You may now wash the area normally, DO NOT SCRUB
  • Keep the area hydrated with the provided aftercare ointment
  • No swimming, saunas/steam rooms, hot tubs, or vigorous exercise for 10 days following the procedure
  • Avoid tanning and/or sun exposure for 10 days following the procedure
  • Do not use any products containing AHAs on the procedure area

  • You may experience redness or swelling immediately following the procedure. The provided ointment will help with this but you may also use an ice pack in 10 minute increments to reduce any swelling
  • You may also experience some bruising of the area, this is completely normal. The provided aftercare ointment contains ingredients designed to reduce bruising and swelling. You may also apply damp towel with witch hazel to the area for no more than 10 minutes.
  • After the first few days, you may experience itching. This does not mean that you are allergic to the pigment, rather that the flaking process has begun. DO NOT ITCH THE PROCEDURE AREA. Lightly tap the area to alleviate the feeling and keep the area hydrated to minimize the itch
  • When the area begins to flake DO NOT PICK at the flakes, allow them to fall off naturally. Early removal of the flakes can result in loss of pigment and uneven results

  • DO NOT rub or traumatize the area while it is healing as pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue.
  • Keep area well hydrated to reduce scabbing
  • No products containing AHAs (always check the label before using)
  • Once the area is healed, wear SPF 30 sunscreen to preserve the color
  • Camouflage is a multi-step process, final results CANNOT be determined until the touch up application has been completed. The touch up is intended to fill in any discoloration caused by the healing and scabbing process.
  • The procedure area can remain lighter, darker, or go through phases of both during the healing process. This is completely normal as the pigment is still settling into your skin. This is why we give the area 8-12 weeks before completing a touch up to allow the true color to show.
  • Your touch up visit is included in the price of the service and must be completed within 8-12 weeks of the initial procedure, unless otherwise determined by your artist. Failure to meet these guidelines will result in the loss of your free touch up and will incur additional costs.

  • Severe redness
  • Excessive swelling
  • Red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart
  • Elevated body temperature
  • Purulent drainage from the procedure site (Discharge that is yellow/green in color and foul in odor)
