Am i a candidate?
3D areola restoration may be an option for those who have completed breast reconstruction, mastectomy, breast surgery, or experienced changes to the appearance of the areola and nipple. The area must be fully healed before treatment, with 6 months being the typical waiting period after surgery.
Because every healing process is different, written clearance from your physician is required before treatment to confirm that the area is ready to be tattooed.
Your individual anatomy, skin condition, and desired result will all be considered during your consultation to determine whether areola restoration is appropriate for you.

What to expect
Consultation
We’ll discuss your goals, medical history relevant to your restoration and the look you want to achieve. We’ll also assess your existing anatomy and talk through what’s possible for your individual restoration.
Design & color
Your areola design and color are customized to complement your natural anatomy and skin tone. We’ll determine the shape, placement, size, and color before treatment begins.
Restoration
Using hyper-realistic tattooing techniques, I’ll build the areola with layers of color, shading, and detail to create the appearance of natural dimension and depth.
HEALING & REFINEMENT
Your skin will need time to heal and the pigment to settle after your initial treatment. You’ll return in 6–8 weeks for your required touch-up, where we restore any color lost during healing and refine the details to complete your restoration.
Insurance coverage
Reimbursement
Most insurance providers are required to cover or reimburse for 3D areola restoration following breast reconstruction under the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA). Contact us at dale@krakkenbeauty.com to find out if you qualify.
Payment process
Payment is due in full at the time of your appointment. We’ll provide you with a detailed medical receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
